Mount Rose Community Church of one of three on the Grand Portage Indian reservation. It is the only Baptist
church in the area, the others being primarily Catholic and Lutheran.
The original church building has been around for years. After many years of harsh winters and heavy
rainfall in the summer the church had begun to fall apart. The roof leaked, windows were broken, the nursery was
in need of serious repairs due to water damage, and there was simply no room for its members to congregate. So about
three years ago, the pastor, along with his congregation decided to begin building a new church, just a few miles down the
road to better fit their needs. The new church would also give them the opportunity to expand if need be.
